Meet the Directors of the Board and CMS Staff. All directors are volunteers and the board meets on the second Tuesday evening of each month. The board members represent different walks of life and provide oversight and direction for the organization.

CMS’ staff is committed to the organization’s mission and dedicated to its services.

Jennifer Murrell, Secretary

Kelly Glidewell, Treasurer
Branch Manager, Wells Fargo Bank. Co-President of Wells Fargo Volunteer Chapter for Western Colorado.

Bruce Talbott
Fruit Grower; Mesa County Farm Bureau; Member of First Baptist Church; Volunteer at East Orchard Mesa Fire Department.

Millie Slagle
Retired; Member of Migrant Ministry Thrift Shop Board of Directors.

Tracy Gallegos
Migrant Education Director, Mesa County Valley School District 51; delegate to State Board for Colorado Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents; Soccer coach for youth in Delta, CO.

Maria Johnson
Owner/PR, Roger Johnson Grand West Kia; Board Member, Western Colorado Latino Chamber of Commerce; Orchard Owner.

Joan Levy
Retired; 35 years in senior positions at Mesa Developmental Services (now STRIVE) including Director of Residential Services; volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and Agape Food Bank; Fruita Trails host.

STAFF

Karalyn Dorn, Executive Director

Karalyn’s 20+ years of professional experience in the field of human services includes administration, case management, community outreach, volunteer recruitment, job development, fundraising and program coordination. She has lived and worked in Latin America, including a two-year stint as Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, and is fluent in Spanish.

Peg Martinez recently left this position and we will miss her immensely. We are grateful for her dedication and professionalism. We wish her all the best!

The Community Health Worker performs community outreach, case management and related duties. She or he must quickly gain the confidence of farm workers and assist them with medical appointments as well as with referrals to community resources and with troubleshooting everyday challenges that arise.

Maria Lopez, Kitchen Manager and Cook

María’s many talents include preparing delicious meals from scratch. She has prepared the hearty, home-style meals beloved by CMS clientele during every harvest season since 2010, as well as tamales for CMS’ fundraising project and annual benefit concert.

Maria Frausto, Client support and office assistant; cook

María works part time as client support and office assistant. She knows many local community resources and helps farmworkers and their families to access health care and other services. María joined CMS in 2016 to prepare meals for holidays and other special events. We soon learned of her many other talents.
