Jeffrey Howard, President
Retired; RN at St. Mary’s Hospital, 25 years; Orchard Mesa Gun Club Board of Directors.

Felix Iovanni, Vice President
Retired business owner: Vistas & Vineyards B&B; Volunteer for Colorado Discover Ability.

Jennifer Murrell, Secretary
Adult Programming Librarian, Mesa County Libraries; History Alive! Colorado West Chautauqua Board Member; Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado Board Member.

Millie Slagle, Treasurer
Retired; Member of Migrant Ministry Thrift Shop Board of Directors.

Bruce Talbott
Fruit Grower; Mesa County Farm Bureau; Member of First Baptist Church; Volunteer at East Orchard Mesa Fire Department.

Joan Levy
Retired; 35 years in senior positions at Mesa Developmental Services (now STRIVE) including Director of Residential Services; volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and Agape Food Bank; Fruita Trails host.

Peg Martinez
Administrative Client Coordinator, self-employed. 40 years experience working in the Latino community, including positions as public school family liaison, community service coordinator and outreach/community health worker for migrant farmworkers and their families. Volunteer ESL teacher for Mesa County Libraries, former board member of El Grupo Vida and Advisory Council Member of PAMI.

Rob Scribner
Retired; staff psychiatrist Veterans Administration Hospital. Town doctor in Green River, Utah during the early 1970s, then family doctor in Seattle area 1975- 1987. Palisade Sunrise Rotary Club volunteer and St. Ann’s Church volunteer.

Rod Sharp
Senior Agriculture Industry Specialist, Wells Fargo Bank; 29 years as Agriculture and Business Management Economist, Colorado State University Extension in Grand Junction, CO; Board Member, Grand Junction Tennis Center; board membership and other leadership roles in Grand Junction area nonprofits, foundations and civic groups, 1998 to present.


Karalyn Dorn, Executive Director

Karalyn’s 20+ years of professional experience in the field of human services includes administration, case management, community outreach, volunteer recruitment, job development, fundraising and program coordination. She has lived and worked in Latin America, including a two-year stint as Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, and is fluent in Spanish.

Community Health Worker Team/Promotores de Salud

Nelly García recently joined CMS’ team of part time Community Health Workers. Nelly’s extensive professional experience with the Migrant Education Program and community based organizations serving immigrants will undoubtedly be of great benefit to CMS’ members. Nelly joins team members Maria Frausto and Rubén Hernandez. The team performs community outreach, case management and troubleshooting everyday challenges that arise.

Maria Lopez, Kitchen Manager and Cook

María’s many talents include preparing delicious meals from scratch. She has prepared the hearty, home-style meals beloved by CMS clientele during every harvest season since 2010, as well as tamales for CMS’ fundraising project and annual benefit concert.
