Jeffrey Howard, President
Retired; RN at St. Mary’s Hospital, 25 years; Orchard Mesa Gun Club Board of Directors.

Felix Iovanni, Vice President
Retired business owner: Vistas & Vineyards B&B; Volunteer for Colorado Discover Ability.

Jennifer Murrell, Secretary
Adult Programming Librarian, Mesa County Libraries; History Alive! Colorado West Chautauqua Board Member; Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado Board Member.

Jenn Moore, Treasurer
Executive Director, EUREKA! McConnell Science Museum; School Board Member for Caprock Academy; Girl Scouts mentor. Palisade fruit grower.

Rob Scribner
Retired; staff psychiatrist Veterans Administration Hospital. Town doctor in Green River, Utah during the early 1970s, then family doctor in Seattle area 1975- 1987. Palisade Sunrise Rotary Club volunteer and St. Ann’s Church volunteer.

Bruce Talbott
Fruit Grower; Mesa County Farm Bureau; Member of First Baptist Church; Volunteer at East Orchard Mesa Fire Department.

Joan Levy
Retired; 35 years in senior positions at Mesa Developmental Services (now STRIVE) including Director of Residential Services; volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and Agape Food Bank; Fruita Trails host.

Peg Martinez
Administrative Client Coordinator, self-employed. 40 years experience working in the Latino community, including positions as public school family liaison, community service coordinator and outreach/community health worker for migrant farmworkers and their families. Volunteer ESL teacher for Mesa County Libraries, former board member of El Grupo Vida and Advisory Council Member of PAMI.

Amanda McQuade
Program Coordinator, Community Alliance for Education and Hunger Relief, Colorado State University Western Colorado Research Center in Grand Junction. Exhibit Coordinator, Eureka! McConnell Science Museum. Grow Another Row founder and coordinator (2009-2016).

Cailin Portra
Owner, Carlson Vineyards and Occupational Therapist, St. Mary’s Hospital. Local community involvement: Wren Quinn Project benefitting area nonprofits.

The board meets the fourth Tuesday of each month, from 6-8 pm.

STAFF

Karalyn Dorn, Executive Director

Karalyn’s 20+ years of professional experience in the field of human services includes administration, case management, community outreach, volunteer recruitment, job development, fundraising and program coordination. She has lived and worked in Latin America, including a two-year stint as Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, and is fluent in Spanish.

Community Outreach Team

CMS has an immediate employment opportunity for a part time Community Outreach Worker (Promotor/a). We seek someone who knows the many challenges faced by farmworkers and is passionate about providing them empathy, assistance and connection to community resources. Rubén Hernández, Community Outreach Worker (Promotor)

A full-time farmworker, Rubén helps CMS with outreach and provides transportation and other assistance to farm workers and their families.

As of April 1, 2021 Laura Cárdenas no longer works for CMS as Office Coordinator and Community Health Worker (Promotora). We thank her for the many ways she assisted migrant and seasonal farmworkers during her time with CMS and wish her the best in her new endeavors.
