Meet the Directors of the Board and CMS Staff. All directors are volunteers and the board meets on the second Tuesday evening of each month. The board members represent different walks of life and provide oversight and direction for the organization.

Bruce Talbott, President
Fruit Grower; Board Member of Colorado Association of Viticulture and Enology; Mesa County Farm Bureau; Member of First Baptist Church; Volunteer at East Orchard Mesa Fire Department.

Jeffrey Howard, Vice President
Retired; former RN at St. Mary’s Hospital, 25 years; Orchard Mesa Gun Club Board of Directors.

Jennifer Murrell, Secretary
Adult Programming Librarian, Mesa County Libraries; Two Rivers Chautauqua Board Member; Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado Board Member.

Felix Iovanni, Treasurer
Business Owner, Vistas & Vineyards B&B; Board Member of Strive;
Member of Palisade Tourism Advisory Board; Volunteer for Colorado Discover Ability.

Peter Forté
Retired; owner of Forté Farms in Palisade for more than 20 years.

Millie Slagle
Retired; Member of Migrant Ministry Thrift Shop Board of Directors.

Kelly Glidewell
Branch Manager, Wells Fargo Bank. Co-President of Wells Fargo Volunteer Chapter for Western Colorado.

CMS has two openings on its board of directors and is accepting applications for membership.


Karalyn Dorn, Executive Director

Karalyn’s  20+ years of professional experience in the field of human services includes administration, case management, community outreach, volunteer recruitment, job development, fundraising and program coordination. She has lived and worked in Latin America, including a two-year stint as Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, and is fluent in Spanish.

Peg Martinez, Community Health Worker/Promotora de Salud

Peg started her career assisting migrant farm workers in California’s Central Valley, then worked for years as a family liaison in public schools before becoming a professional Spanish interpreter. Peg has proven to be an invaluable asset to CMS, quickly gaining the confidence of workers as she assists them with medical appointments and troubleshooting the everyday challenges that arise.

Maria Lopez, Kitchen Manager and Cook

María’s many talents include preparing delicious meals from scratch.  She has prepared the hearty, home-style meals beloved by CMS clientele during every harvest season since 2010, as well as tamales for CMS’ fundraising project and annual benefit concert.

J. Manuel Hernandez, Community Health Worker/Promotor de Salud (on call)

Manuel has lived and worked in Mesa County for more than 20 years and has extensive experience with local orchards and vineyards. He is highly knowledgeable about community resources and how to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers access services.

Maria Frausto, Cook

María joined CMS in 2016 to prepare meals for holidays and other special events. She prepares tamales for CMS’ fundraising project and provides other invaluable organizational assistance.
